Classroom Training and Firearms Re-certifications – Extensions Without Penalty
The Corona virus pandemic is a new and unforeseen event for our nation and the private security industry. As a result of the numerous closures, recommendations of diminished gathering sizes, and other factors designed to mitigate the spread of the virus, the Board is extending any firearms re-certifications due as of March 13th 2020 until April 30th. We will revisit this extension as time in this event response unfolds. Ranges are open around the state. Firearms should be re-certified as soon as possible. This presents a high risk insurance policy issue that should not be mistaken for a low risk accommodation. Call your local weapons instructors and arrange training.
Additionally, we are extending the due date for mandatory classroom training (1st and 2nd eight hours) for newly hired security officers for a period of 30 days from the due date of said training.
