After extensive review, we have determined that the Leave of Absence (LOA) process that has been in place at the LSBPSE is not codified in Title 37 or LAC 46. There exists no such provision in State Board agency law or rule.
Nevertheless, over the last several years, an LOA form and a Leave of Absence practice emerged. The attached policy outlines how, going forward, Leaves of Absence will be handled.
Use of the LOA form to circumvent mandatory training intervals will not be accepted. Missing training deadlines shall result in fines up to $1000 per class per security employee:
- Failure to have a security officer in your employ trained withing 30 and/or 60 days (or for required firearms training) will amount up to a $500 fine
- Failure to have a training form for an employ trained withing 30 and/or 60 days (or for required firearms training) will amount up to a $500 fine
It is imperative that all required training be completed in a timely manner, and documentation of such training is furnished to the board withing 15 days or completion.
